From December 16, 2001, "The Blessing of Love"

The Meditation and Prayer Practice of Loving-Kindness:

Take time each day to Practice Loving-kindness and radiate the energy of Love.  The practice unfolds in six phases—move from one phase to the next when you feel an inner shift of knowing that the phase you are in is “real” for you.  Find a quiet space and time to be still and commune with Spirit.  Begin by focusing your attention inward.  Breathe in deeply and exhale fully—allow your breath to surround your heart-space and fill you with the in-breath of Spirit.  Know that as you breathe in, you deeply breathe in the experience of Spirit; and as you breathe out, you exhale the expression of Spirit that you are.

 

  1. Begin with Self, and breathing in deeply and exhaling fully, focus your attention on the thought and feeling,      “I am blessed by Love; I am the blessing of Love.”  Continue until you feel an inner knowing of this Truth.
  2. Now think of a mentor or benefactor in your life, and breathing in deeply and exhaling fully, focus your attention on the thought and feeling, “(Name) is blessed by Love; (Name) is the blessing of Love.”  Continue until you feel an inner knowing of this Truth.
  3. Next, bless a beloved friend or family member, and breathing in deeply and exhaling fully, focus your attention on the thought and feeling, “(Name) is blessed by Love; (Name) is the blessing of Love.”  Continue until you feel an inner knowing of this Truth.
  4. Now think of someone you feel neutral about ie. a store clerk or bus driver, etc., and breathing in deeply and exhaling fully, focus your attention on the thought and feeling, “(Name) is blessed by Love; (Name) is the blessing of Love.”  Continue until you feel an inner knowing of this Truth.
  5. Next, move on to someone who has hurt you or someone you may view as an enemy—this may be a bit of a challenge, but stay with it—you have built up your spiritual muscles with phases 1-4.  Now, breathing in deeply and exhaling fully, focus your attention on the thought and feeling, “(Name) is blessed by Love; (Name) is the blessing of Love.”  Continue until you feel an inner knowing of this Truth.
  6. Finally, bless the world by radiating the love that you are, and breathing in deeply and exhaling fully, focus your attention on the thought and feeling, “The world is blessed by Love; the world is the blessing of Love.”  Continue until you feel an inner knowing of this Truth.

Practice Loving-kindness each day, or invoke all or part of the practice throughout the day whenever you remember and have time, or especially whenever you feel yourself feeling anything other than Loving-kindness toward yourself or anyone else. Together we radiate the powerful and healing energy of Love throughout the Cosmos and experience Peace in our lives and Peace on earth.
